About Us

History

Graham Johnson has been active in the IT industry since the mid-1980's.  In addition to holding a BSc degree with majors in computer science and mathematics from the University of Pretoria, he has gained extensive IT-related experience from various backgrounds.  Before setting out on his own in 1994 he had been employed in government, military, educational and corporate business environments where he gained experience in IT infrastructure acquisition, software engineering, lecturing, product marketing management and network engineering.

What prompted Graham to start working for himself was the conviction that the same type and quality of service that large corporations are accustomed to getting from the large IT consultancies may be made available to small and mid-range enterprises by still applying the same principles of professionalism and quality of service but bringing them in line with budgetary constraints by simplifying methods and optimising overheads.

His target market consists of those enterprises – whether it be "one-man" home businesses or nation-wide companies – that have reached a stage where they acknowledge that their IT infrastructure plays a critical role in their operations, that it needs to be managed effectively and that it requires skilled, knowledgeable and experienced people to do so.

Philosophy

Graham believes that one of the problems in the IT industry today is that it is too technology-focused.  He prefers to focus on what his customers need to do, rather than on the technology they own.  No enterprise acquires IT infrastructure simply to have the latest and greatest that is available.  They acquire it in order to use it as a tool for achieving some or other business objective.  By focusing on the job at hand Graham is able to implement IT products and services that optimally support and enhance it, very often without requiring the latest and greatest technology and always with consideration of his customers’ budgetary constraints.

Skills

By combining his own range of skills and a network of specialist ad hoc sub-contractors, Graham is able to offer a complete range of IT services and products, including:

  • IT management – becoming the customer's IT department and catering for issues as wide-ranging as servicing printers to disaster recovery planning; effectively being a “one-stop shop” for all IT-related issues.

  • Software development – specialising in developing customised financial and management information systems.

  • Financial software – installation, support, management and training for a range of accounting and payroll systems.

  • Internet presence – web site development, hosting and maintenance; Internet connectivity; company e-mail and more.

  • Acquisition – by virtue of working relationships with a number of vendors whose products have proven themselves from a point of view of quality, reliability, manageability and after-sales support, to source any IT-related product required by any enterprise.

  • Data communication – advances in modern data communications make it possible to combine previously separate business entities, thereby improving management and optimising overheads.
